PA3i LB Chapter conducts robotics training workshop |
 Philippine Australian Alumni Association, Inc. Los Banos Chapter (PA3i-LB) in collaboration with The Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Physics (IMSP), University of the Philippines Los Baños conducted a Training Workshop in Robotics for High School Students on Friday, 30 March 2012 at the UP Rural High School, Bgy. Paciano Rizal, Bay, Laguna (for the third year high school students).
The training workshop, which is funded by the Philippines Australia Human Resource and Organizational Development Facility (http://www.pahrodf.org.ph/), aims to promote science and technology to high school students through exposure to robotics technology.
Prof. Nelio C. Altoveros, together with Mr. Julius Cris V. Salinas and Mr. Mark Lester L. Altoveros, all faculty members of the Computer Hardware and Instrumentation Physics Laboratory of IMSP, UP Los Los Baños facilitated the said workshop. This workshop will be followed by another robotics training workshop for high school teachers (April 16-17, 2012) and robotics training workshop for high school students (April 23-24, 2012).
It is hoped that the training programs would better prepare the high school teachers in teaching technical subjects such as robotics and provide rewarding experiences to high school students so that they may go into science and technology careers. |

Climate Change Forum for High School Students |

The Australian Government’s Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the Philippine Australian Alumni Association, Inc. (PA3i) jointly sponsored two climate change forums with the theme, “Think Globally, Act Locally,” for high school students. The main objective of the forums was to enlighten the students about enhanced global warming and its possible adverse effects on global climate. |
